What is Spirit, Spiritual, Spirituality by Shirley MacLaine

We couldn't express it any better than the wonderful Shirley MacLaine. She has personally given us permission to use this explanation on our website...what a wonderful spiritual teacher and pioneer she is.

What comes to mind when you say the word spiritual?
The answers to this question are sure to be diverse. Some may identify the word with religion; others with the New Age movement, still others relate it to nature. Some may see a sunrise in their mind and some may see nothing at all and instead feel a direct connection to Creation.

Everyone has a different symbolic picture that comes to their mind's eye when they hear the word. The variance of these individualistic references is based on the belief process we were taught as children and our life experiences. Sometimes a new reference may be stronger than an older reference and the belief structure and the identification changes. Sometimes the identification with the word spiritual remains throughout life.

Beneath all of this identification that we have to have in order to exist in this third-dimensional plane, is the actual essence of the word. Webster defines spiritual as, "of the spirit or the soul, as distinguished from the body." We know the body. The body is solid and tangible. We know the mind and pride ourselves on being able to learn, to think and to rationalize.

But do we really know the spirit that exists within each and every one of us? It generally can't be seen or physically touched. It can't be tasted. It doesn't smell and can't be audibly heard. It can't tell time or compute a mathematical problem. It doesn't resonate to any of the labels we use to recognize the things around us. So what is it?

The spirit is the direct connection to the Divine. It is the cohesive sum and substance of who and what we really are; an energy that is harmonious with the Creator. It doesn't require a three-dimensional descriptive identification as the totality of it's unseen dynamics can be seen everywhere, in everything. Without the spirit, the physical and the mental would have no reason to exist as neither would be whole. Click to read further.

The Seven Spiritual Laws for Parents - Children's Version.

The seven laws are extremely important for parents to teach their children as these laws put a person in touch with the mechanics of Nature. In a nutshell, the more connected we are, the more we will enjoy the abundance of the universe.

Children need simple language to understand the principles. There are two versions of The Seven Spiritual Laws for Parents: for adults and children. Here is the Children's Version.

  • First Law: Everything is possible.
  • Second Law: If you want to get something, give it.
  • Third Law: When you make a choice, you change the future.
  • Fourth Law: Don't say no - go with the flow.
  • Fifth Law: Every time you wish or want, you plant a seed.
  • Sixth Law: Enjoy the journey.
  • Seventh Law: You are here for a reason.

Aren't these what parents need to teach the children (and also constantly remind ourselves). Deepak Chopra's book '7 Spiritual Laws for Parents' stresses that if a child who has not learned to look for meaning in simple ways (such as teaching the kids about the seven spiritual laws from young) will one day have to try to find a purpose in life under much more difficult circumstances. Usually we postpone our search until our late teens or early twenties.

Practicing the Seven Spiritual Laws - Deepak suggested that parents use every day in a week to teach each of the seven spiritual laws, starting from Sunday.

Every day there are three things you can do with your children to teach a particular spiritual law.  For example Saturday is the day of "Dharma." Today you tell your children, "You are here for a reason."

On this day, you can do the following with your children:
1. Ask each one, "Where are you right now?"
2. Encourage their unique talents and abilities.
3. Invite them to perform an act of service.

Of course, the book has a more detailed day-by-day program for the family - coupled with extremely clear explanation on certain subjects.

7 Spiritual Laws for Parents is our featured book this month and we have 20 copies available. BUY BOOK

Now, take the quiz to discover just how WooWoo are you. This quiz is brought to you by the folks who created the Woo Woo scale. After you're done, visit the home site of the Woo Woo scale to learn more about the world of WooWoo. Click Here

7 Spiritual Laws for Parents

It's hard to find a book on spiritual parenting that can be used by any parent of any faith. A book that can be applied universally regardless of religion.

But one book really stands out and it's The Seven Spiritual Laws for Parents by Deepak Chopra.

If you think you will be put off or intimidated by self-help jargon in this 160+-page book, you are safe. This book is easy to read and easy to understand and it is a relatively quick read.

This is a great book to help parents to raise happy, successful and spiritual children whilst balancing up the thirst for material possessions. If you are a self help junkie, there's nothing new in this book and you might have read it before. But what makes this book different is it contains a section on how parents can teach children the seven spiritual laws.

Wonderful Website of the Month

An introduction to Star Children by Daniel Jacob

This web page is part of a website called NamasteCafe and you could spend hours surfing this site. The best link to start from though we felt is HERE

"The newspapers and magazines have nicknamed them "Generation X." The television commentators have called them "hard to read, even harder to understand." These are the offspring of that incredible genetic explosion of angst and wonder, the Baby Boomers. These are also the ones who will carry us through the end of time and space.

It has been predicted (by several) that, on or near December 22, 2012, all time (as we know it) will stop. The Mayan Calendar will be complete, and something brand new will begin. Some like to believe that it will be eternity. In these next 15 years, our people and our planet will be making preparations for our Graduation Day. Of course,
*everyone* has been invited. By then, everyone will surely be here.

There are no new souls being born into this universe. However, old souls are coming in thundering hordes. Spirit speaks these ideas to us, of course, in a linear sense. In a Multiversal sense, we've always been here and we always will be. But in a past-present-future kind of way.......every one of us is involved in a sort of "historic unfoldment."

Since about 1973, there are no children anymore. There are only "little people." They are old, old souls who pretend they are young, impressionable babes. In one moment, a child may seem utterly weak and dependent, and in the next moment, he will inform his startled parents exactly what he did and where he (and they!) lived in a last life.
Often, he'll do it off-handedly, without blinking, and then scurry off to watch television.

Testimonials

Pickawoowoo children's spiritual learners are a great starter set of book for children and parents alike. Wonderfully illustrated with very positive messages and enlightenment coming from the whole series. Written by a local Western Australian author these really are worth taking a look through. What I like so much about these books and sets these apart from so many others I have read is how they can involve the whole family, parents can read along and help with a child's understanding of what can be a confusing and complex subject especially for children. I recommend these whole heartedly. Anthony Grzelka (One of Australia's most recognised Spiritual Mediums)

I received the books I ordered for my grand-daughter Erika & very quickly too! You sent me the free 'My Angel's Advice' book which is a lovely bonus. I was pleasantly surprised to see you had sent me another copy of this special book & I would like to say 'Thank You', I greatly appreciate your generosity. I intend to keep this copy for my next grand-child. I hope after seeing the article in the Body&Soul/Sunday Telegraph, many more people will be open to understanding the wonders these books explore. Though I feel this is already happening. Small to start, but with time it will grow. This life-time on Earth has us all on a journey of great change, as to how we embrace it will be the key to how far we travel.
Joy Love and Peace. Julie Cairns
